18 Sunday After Trinity – Guardian Angel (29.09.24)

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, and the church was earnestly praying to God for him. ⁶ Now when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the keepers at the door were keeping watch over the prison. ⁷ And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by, and a light shone in the prison. And the angel struck Peter in the side and woke him up, saying, “Rise quickly.” And the chains fell from his hands. ⁸ And the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. Then he said to him, “Put on your cloak and follow me.” ⁹ So Peter went out and followed him, not knowing that what the angel did was real, but supposing that he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they had passed through the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate that led into the city, which opened to them of its own accord. And they went out and passed through a street, and suddenly the angel was gone from him. ¹¹ Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.”

Acts 12:5-11

¹³ They brought little children to Him that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. ¹⁴ When Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a child will in no way enter it. ¹⁶ And He took them in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
