We beseech you, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, ² do not be hasty in your minds and be disturbed either by the spirit, or by the words, or by the message, as if sent by us, as if the day of Christ were already at hand. ⁴ He sits in the temple of God, as God, you presume to be God.
⁵ Do you not remember that I saw you telling you this? ⁶ And do you not know now that He does not? allow Him to be revealed in His own time. ⁸ And then He will be revealed. the lawless one, whom Jesus the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming— ⁹ the one whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all unrighteous deceivables of those who perish because they did not receive the truth that they might be saved. so that they should believe a lie, ¹² that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Thessalonians 2:1-12
And he went through the cities and villages, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone said to him, “Lord, are there few who will be saved?” And he said to them, “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for I tell you, many will seek to enter in and will not be able.”
When the good man of the house rises and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and knock at the door, saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us.” But he will answer you, “I do not know you or where you are from.” 25 Then you will begin to say, “We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.” 26 But he will say, “I tell you, I do not know you or where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.” ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. ²⁹ And they will come from east and west and north and south, and will recline at table in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.
